Took advantage of hourly charge and took 10 hours to just pack a 1 bed

This was an experience from hell. If I could leave a negative rating, I would.

I booked for a full service (incl packing and unpacking) for $175/ hour move from a 2bed (800sqft) to 1bed (700+ sqft) apartment located just 15-20 mins away from each other. A bit hefty but I was fine with it as I would rather pay a premium expecting premium service, with everything to be completed within a 6-8 hour time frame (their estimate). They offered a free stop at storage which I took up as there were a few items from my guestroom and patio that wouldn't fit into my new apartment.

Job was meant to be completed between 8.30 AM and 4.30 PM maximum, with the movers asking me to book the elevator at the new place at 1 PM. They only assigned 2 guys (!!!) who arrived punctually and got to work basically immediately by starting to pack the small kitchen items and wardrobe (really odd, since based on my experience movers usually pack the large bulky items first and get those out of the way).

By noon they were not even done packing the kitchen (I have really minimal items - 4 pots/ pans and 12 dishes and bare minimum pantry items) nor the wardrobe (they were putting everything in hanging rack boxes on hangers, so not sure why it would take 2-3 hours to do that though i do have a lot of clothes). My partner was starting to feel really suspicious because it seemed they were milking the hourly rate so he asked them how long more till they would be moving off to the new apartment so as not to miss the booking and they said about 2 hours. At this point (12PM), not a single piece of furniture was wrapped or disassembled yet.

At 2-3 PM they had just started wrapping/ disassembling furniture and were done packing everything in the apartment ONLY AT 6 PM!!! WHO TAKES 10 HOURS TO PACK UP A 1-2 BEDROOM APARTMENT???

They only arrived at my new apartment complex close to 7.15 - 7.30 PM as they went for a meal break (totally understandable since they hadnt stopped for a break all day) and then proceeded to basically DUMP things (see pictures) in my new apartment WITH NO UNPACKING (only bed, couch and coffee table assembly - they didnt even bother to re-assemble side tables and just dumped them in random spots, leaving the glass table tops sprawled across my sofa). They packed up to leave by 9.30 PM to go to storage and asked me to come with them to unlock - mind you, they had the address and I told them I could provide the code so they can just unload it there without my having to go along as I had a flight to catch the next morning for a business trip and wasnt even able to pack (heck, I couldn't walk through my apartment cause they dumped boxes randomly everywhere). We arrive at storage and access is disabled because it closes at 9 PM (I wasn't aware of this) and they are basically forcing me to take back whatever furniture I have left in their truck to my apartment (no chance it would fit) and that they would come back Sunday to pick it up and put it in to storage (cause I suppose it's normal for them to take 3 days to move 1 bedroom apartments and to hassle their clients instead of trying to figure out options). I told them it was late to be dealing with this and one of the movers, Chris, who was already getting quite belligerent earlier on, yelled at me "YOU ARE TIRED?!?!" because he obviously had the impression that he was doing me a favor vs it being his job that I was paying for.

In the end they took the stuff back to their warehouse (ah, so there was a solution that didn't entail dumping more things in my apartment for me to deal with!) and put it into my storage unit on Monday.

As my partner and I were leaving to go home, Chris asked us to "please at least pay gratuity".

There was no service recovery or apology but I received a mysterious invoice for $2.8K (16 hours of work??).

I've moved across 3 continents in the last decade, and have never experienced anything like this. The audacity to bill me close to USD 3K and keep chasing me for payment without saying much else takes the cake. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.

They broke my 80" TV

I have used Einstein Moving Company three times and this most recent time was the worst experience anyone could go through.

I was first quoted just over $700 to move my two bedroom apartment to a two bedroom house. I was moving from a second floor apartment to a house with easy access. Granted, I have a family of three so there was a decent amount of boxes (approx 30 boxes) and furniture to move (2 beds, a couch set, entertainment center, etc). My biggest concern has always been moving the 80" Sharp TV I have. The movers were moving everything so well that I really felt like I had nothing to worry about. They were taking longer than the previous times they've moved me, but I was just assuming this was a lot for two men to move within 4 hours. I was anticipating 5.5 hours, however they took 6 hours. That's fine. Let's move on to the reason you're reading this review.

I watched the movers damage a wall in my home. I witnessed the movers drop my Polk Audio home theater speakers. They told me not to worry because they would cover everything. All I had to do is submit a claim. Sounds super easy.....

Then they left. I began looking at all of my items to see if anything else was damaged. Oddly enough, they did not show me any of my TV's or plug them in to confirm they worked after moving them. Then I found a huge hole in the screen of my 80" Sharp TV. I promptly submitted the claim, provided all the information they needed on my 10 year old 80" TV because all I wanted was for my items to be replaced. After they reviewed my claim, I was told that all they could offer me was a 70" TV made my Hisense (a budget brand). I asked how they consider that a fair replacement and they said that was because my TV was old and because 80" TV's are no longer produced, they only make larger than 80" TV's now. They also damaged my daughters dresser, which was on the claim. They were offering me $60 to replace her dresser or if I take the dresser off the claim, they would offer me an 85" Hisense TV (budget brand). They said this is the best offer they can give me, and offered me $800 via check. When asked again how they consider this making up for a terrible experience of having multiple items broken as well as a wall in my brand new home, they said they are only obligated to replace $0.60 per pound, as required by state law. I wanted the company that I have used three times now to take care of me in the way that is only right. They offer up to $2,000.00 in the claim, but they will nickel and dime you like any insurance policy does when you submit a claim (Shoutout Stephanie in the claims department!). I ended up paying way more to replace my TV than what they sent me via check in the mail. Einstein did call me and offer me $300 off what I paid for my move that day, but that was not in lieu of the TV. That was because they felt that my move could have been done in less than 6 hours.

Ultimately, if you are looking for a great moving service, I'd look at any other moving company. If you have expensive TV's or items you do not want damaged, I would strongly suggest you don't have Einstein's move it for you. Einstein had the choice to do what's right for their customer or do what's right for their pockets, and like any bad business, they chose themselves.

(I know, I hate the red colored walls too ?)

Great movers.

This move was the best it could have been. Only two guys moving a 3 bedroom home. They wrapped all the furniture and made a 25 mile move in a very short time. They continually worked until they had everything placed in my new house exactly the way I wanted it. They made sure I checked to be sure nothing was damaged in any way before the left. It was a perfect, flawless move and I did want to hug these two guys before they left. I will definitely recommend them and use them again if I ever move again. Very reasonably priced and the best move I have ever made.

Couldn't be happier with Einstein Moving.

I researched through the various review boards including this one, Yelp, Google and others to find the companies with the least amount of negative reviews and to see what the negative reviews were about.
Einstein Moving Company is not the cheapest but you won't be sorry. They charge around $60 an hour per mover including travel time from one place to the next and truck fees that vary with local versus long distance moves. We had a 2600 square foot house and a 10x8 storage building to load up. We agreed on two 26 foot trucks and 5 movers. I was quoted 8 hours of loading , 4 hours of driving from Austin to Mckinney Texas and 5 hours of unloading plus trip and the two truck charges for a total move range of $6500-7200.
They ended up coming in under the low side of the budget once it was all said and done.
The move itself :
They showed up when they said and were very professional. I got the idea that everyone must be part owner but later found out they are just dedicated.
These guys are not hulksters but they are the strongest pound for pound group of gangly young men you'll ever see.
They wrapped every piece of furniture in a moving blanket followed by plastic wrap.
Not one wall ding.
Not one piece of damaged furniture.
They had me sign a waiver to disconnect my gas dryer but could not reconnect it due to code.
Everything went great. I am very impressed.
Pay the extra money. You won't regret it.

Googled the moving company and decided to give them a chance. Rey and Alexander for Einstein did not disappoint . Trey and Alexander packed everything carefully and more importantly, they listened to my customer needs. I would recommend them for any move in the San Antonio are.
